I saw this ad for a sale at Sears in honor of MLK Day. Their web-site no longer references this as it's just a sale that ends Tuesday. I'm not sure why they did this just in case anyone was looking for something to do tomorrow. I was stunned by this. Fortunately, The Colbert Report spread the word of their great deal to the masses. He had an excellent view on the subject. And he manged to run down plenty of other businesses that have some great deals.
When I say stunned, I think I mean more disgusted than anything. Others appear to share my feelings. The sheer crass commercialism our society exhibits is shameful. I mentioned this in a prior post about Veteran's Day that was similar themed.
Maybe it's a sign of something positive when the masses can look past the horrible legacy that was slavery and racism and see all the great savings that can be found on this holiday.
Thankfully, the folks at Dealio have aggregated this information.
So, shop Americans. Shop tomorrow so that we can save the economy so the terrorists don't win. And, um, you know, give thanks so people of color have rights and stuff.
